PROMOTING THE EAP SERVICE

What is the Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?
Employee Assistance is the work organization’s resource that utilizes core technologies to enhance employee and workplace effectiveness through prevention, identification and resolution of personal and productivity issues.

Who may use the EAP?
The EAP is a service provided to all Ministry personnel, their families and dependants. You are eligible for the service as of your date of hire.

What will This Service Cost?
The counseling sessions and referral are provided free of charge as a benefit of your employment in the Ministry of Education. When referrals are made to an outside agency that may charge each case will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

Is Confidentiality Protected?
ABSOLUTELY NO INFORMATION WILL BE RELEASED WITHOUT YOUR
PERMISSION.
The Ministry only receives statistical data that shows the total number of employees who have accessed the service.

What will This Service Cost?
Employees are encouraged to contact the EAP on their own. Referrals may occur in other ways, they include:

  • A suggested referral by a colleague, friend or family member.
  • A suggested referral by a Supervisor.
  • A formal referral by a Supervisor if an employee’s problem is affecting work performance.

How Do I Contact the Service?
Once the EAP Provider is contracted the information will be forwarded to all Ministry personnel.
