Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) Examination

The Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) Examination is used to facilitate the placement of students in Secondary Schools throughout Trinidad and Tobago.  The SEA comprises three papers in the subjects of Creative Writing, Mathematics, and Language Arts and covers the national curriculum for Primary-level education with a focus on Standards 3-5.

Who is eligible to write the SEA?

Students who are in Standard 5 and have not yet attained the age of 15 are eligible to write the SEA.

The Ministry of Education publishes an annual “SEA Guidelines” document to assist parents, teachers and others involved in the preparation of students for the SEA and secondary school.  These guidelines can be accessed using the link below.

How do I register my child to write the SEA?

Students must complete the SEA Registration Form, which will be made available at all primary schools at the beginning of the first term of the school year.  All necessary information, such as the registration deadline, will be included on the form.  If you want to register a student after the deadline, please contact the Ministry of Education’s Examination Section.
