The Ministry of Education (MoE) wishes to advise that students and teachers of the Enterprise Government Primary School will soon be relocated to their new building. This building, which was constructed behind the existing school, will open its doors to students early next week.
A few weeks ago, MP for Chaguanas East, Tourism Minister Stephen Cadiz and Education Minister Dr Gopeesingh conducted a tour of the old school building, which will soon be demolished to make way for the construction of a new Early Childhood Care and Education centre on the site.
Today, Dr Gopeesingh conducted a tour of schools in the Toco/Sangre Grande constituency accompanied by MP for the area, Minister of Science and Technology Rupert Griffith. The tour began at the Keshorn Walcott Secondary School (formerly the Toco Secondary School) where the Ministers viewed the new temporary classrooms built to accommodate the 400 students. Existing blocks of the old school, which are not structurally sound will be demolished and rebuilt.
The Ministers, other MoE officials as well as officials of the Educational Facilities Company Limited (EFCL) gained first-hand knowledge of the status of schools, especially as it pertains to infrastructure, School-based Management, academic performance, teacher performance, the school feeding programme, janitorial and security services and accountability of grants given to secondary schools, which in some cases can amount to $1.5M per annum.
